PRODUCT FiNDS : MODERN DAY SKULL

I thought I would start sharing more of my product finds here on my blog. I'm constantly pinning to Pinterest but don't often share much of it here. I tend to pin in themes, usually unplanned. I'll see a pattern of similar colors, imagery, etc start to form in my Pinterest feed. For years I use to create mood and style boards of trends when I worked for Hallmark. It's something I absolutely love doing but don't usually have the time for. I plan to change that because they are huge sources of inspiration for me and I haven't been feeling the most creative lately.

First up are some skull related products I've found over the last few days while hunting for Halloween inspiration. Hope you enjoy! All products have a link.

Leave me a comment of any products or subjects you might want to see and I'll add it to my list! Have a wonderful day!

WHAT i WORE : NUCLEAR CiTiZENS

Happy October! I can't believe how fast this year is going. October is my favorite month so I'm going to do my best to get a few Halloween posts up.

I love hunting for cool products and art so when I found Josh Ln's Nuclear Citizens artwork I kind of fell in love. Like most, I grew up with the Simpsons and they have been a part of my life since 1987 when they appeared on the Tracey Ullman Show. The Simpsons were some of the first characters I would draw on everything. I even painted a giant Bart for an art contest in elementary school but was disqualified because I didn't create the character. I was in 4th grade, I just wanted to draw Bart Simpson! I actually still have the painting I did, I'll see if I can find it.

Okay, so back to this illustration, it's very Treehouse of Horror in feeling which I love so I though it would be perfect for Halloween. I loved the look of the overall printed shirt but hadn't ordered a shirt from Society6 before so I wasn't sure how well it was going to print. Unfortunately my first shirt arrived with some printing errors I just couldn't ignore. You have to be aware when printing these kinds of shirts that there will be some imperfections but there were too many for me to ignore but Society6 will re print and ship you out a new order free of change if you are unhappy! Thankfully my next shirt looked much better and I'm pretty happy with the quality.

Josh has other products available with this print so be sure to check them out! Have a wonderful week!

LONG TiME NO SEE

Wow, where did the year go? I didn't plan on taking such a long break from my blog but I blinked and most of the year had passed. So to get anyone who might read this up to speed, I moved last year across the country and since then have been setting up our home, organizing my collections, and doing home improvements when I have the time. I meant to share photos on here of our progress but it all just became too overwhelming.

Things are starting to finally slow down a bit so I will slowly be adding posts on here but plan to do a full blog makeover soon. Since my favorite holiday, Halloween, is coming up I'm starting to get really motivated to create and decorate. I will be sharing Halloween inspired products and art I find over the next couple of months both here and on PinterestI will also be sharing home improvement photos along with how we display our collections. I hope they can inspire in some way. Have a wonderful rest of your week!

Here are a few photos from last year right after we moved in. Halloween was the first holiday I decorated here and I can't wait to do it this year.

ART PRINTED SCARVES

Happy Wednesday! So next up on my products I wanted to share from Redbubble is this beautiful scarf with artwork by Karl James Mountford. I'm in love with it. I've been wearing more scarves over the years and I'm excited about this one because I love the illustration. I really wanted to see how these printed and looked in person and I'm so pleased with the quality. Any artist or designer looking to print your work on products, be sure to check them out. It's totally worth trying. There are so many amazing artist whose work you can get printed on these and now I'm obsessed with what to get next and how I can style it. I made this one into a quick skirt over my dress because I wanted to be able to see the fun print but there are so many ways to wear it or just hang one on your wall as art. It looked really nice on my bed as a way to change up your decor as well.

Once again, have a wonderful night!

WHAT i WORE // ALiCE

A little while back I was contacted by Redbubble to help share their Art in Motion campaign and awesome new clothing products you can get with art and illustrations on them and anyone can upload their work to be printed. Redbubble is a global artists' marketplace with over 80,000 selling artists. If there is one things to know about me it's that I always support fellow artist and love that I can wear their art on me to share with people who may have never seen their work before. You get to express yourself with art and I think that's pretty wonderful.

One of their new products is a tube skirts. Mine has a wonderful illustration by artist Karl James Mountford on it and I had so much fun styling it. There is a rose garden pretty close to were we are currently living so I thought it would be a good backdrop for some photos. Silly me decided to go at golden hour on Mother's Day! What was I thinking? Everyone was there so taking many photo wasn't an option without photoshopping out people around me. I'm pretty excited to go back on a different day and take some more photos. The roses there are beautiful!

MORE ABOUT THE ARTiST

Be sure to check out all other fun products Redbubble has that you can get artwork on. I got lost for hours looking at artwork.

Stay tuned, I have a few more outfits/artist coming up over the next few days.

TOY SIDESHOW TEASER

Something I wanted to do for a long time was make a video of my house before I move. Lucky for me I have a boyfriend that's amazing at photography and video so last week while he was in town, he filmed some things around my house. I cannot wait to see what he does for the final piece. I'm letting him do his thing and make it special. We decided Halloween would be a good time to post the entire video once it's done so a short sneak video was make for it. I hope you like it! I'm really excited about this project. I know he will make this amazing!

Have a wonderful Monday!

ART OPENING // UNSEEN FORCES

This year will be the first time in three years I'm unable to attend the art opening of my very good friends Chris Ryniak and Amanda Louise Spayd. Unfortunately times are hard and traveling isn't something possible right now but I'm definitely there in spirit. Their two person show opens tonight at Stranger Factory in Albuquerque, NM. If you don't know about Stranger Factory or Circus Posterus, it's owned but two of my other favorite people, Kathie Olivas and Brandt Peters. If you are ever in the area, art opening or not, be sure to stop by their shop. It's a wonderful designer toy art heaven and everyone that works there is awesome. They are definitely part of my extended family and have all helped me through hard times in one way or another. Such amazingly caring, generous people with huge hearts.

I've seen a few sneak peak of the pieces from the show tonight that Chris and Amanda have shared and I'm always blown away. They are both extremely talented hard workers and it shows it their work. What I've always loved is their attention to detail, colors and use of materials. Like every show of theirs, the pieces will probably sell out quick tonight which I know for a lot of collectors that can't make it to the show, is something hard to deal with because everyone wants a chance to own one of their pieces. I know for me personally, I've had the ability in the past to get my little hands on some of their work and although I know I will not be able this time, I'm beyond happy for them that their work is loved so much that so many people want to own one. That's a huge a compliment for any artist and I'm excited for all of the people that get to attend the show and see everything in person.

I love the new addition of clear and transparent resin used along with painted resin in their current pieces. I was waiting for someone to start doing that more in an effective way and I think for the theme of this show, Unseen Forces, the process fits perfectly. If you are not familiar with Chris or Amanda's work please check out their personal sites. I promise the creatures they create will make you smile.

Best of luck with the show tonight Chris and Amanda. Not that you need it because I know it will be amazing! Love you both.

Have a wonderful weekend everyone and be sure to sign up on the circusposterus.com site to get email updates for upcoming shows and previews of the shows. Anything that doesn't sell from Unseen Forces will go up online and be available to purchase if you cannot attend although I have feeling there might not be much of anything left :)

XOXO
