ART PRINTED SCARVES

Happy Wednesday! So next up on my products I wanted to share from Redbubble is this beautiful scarf with artwork by Karl James Mountford. I'm in love with it. I've been wearing more scarves over the years and I'm excited about this one because I love the illustration. I really wanted to see how these printed and looked in person and I'm so pleased with the quality. Any artist or designer looking to print your work on products, be sure to check them out. It's totally worth trying. There are so many amazing artist whose work you can get printed on these and now I'm obsessed with what to get next and how I can style it. I made this one into a quick skirt over my dress because I wanted to be able to see the fun print but there are so many ways to wear it or just hang one on your wall as art. It looked really nice on my bed as a way to change up your decor as well.

Once again, have a wonderful night!

TOYS AND OUTFITS

A lot of the time when I post "Toy a Day" photos on Instagram or my toy blog, I will match what I'm wearing to the toy. I pretty much have a color palette I make for that day. I may be matching my hair, or a holiday, or anything that comes to mind. I play "dress up" everyday. Well unless I'm sick... no, I'd probably be dressed like a giant bear or other random creature in one of my kigurumi onsies. So yes, I play dress up every single day.

Yesterday I posted one of Doug's toys, a KAWS Boba Fett Companion. I had also matched my outfit to him but didn't have a chance to take any photos until night time which is never when I prefer to take an outfit photo but you work with what you got! Here is some of yesterday.

I really don't do any of these photos for any reason other than to entertain myself and keep me creating. Hopefully they inspire others to play with their clothing more. Creating outfits is one of my favorite things in the world to do. Hope you enjoy them :)

XOXO,
Sara

HAPPY WEEKEND

I have a whole set of these awesome vintage carousel glasses and love them all but the giraffe may be my favorite right now.  I hope everyone has a great weekend! Cheers!

WHAT I WORE // ALL THE LACE

I can get a bit carried away playing with clothes. I've always loved fashion and for a long time wanted to design clothing. Actually that never went away, I still would love to do that but for now I just play dress up like a 5 year old. These things make me happy and it's a huge source of inspiration. Everyday I can pretend I'm in a fairy tail, video game, movie...I've always wished Halloween was everyday and I see no reason not to pretend that it is :)

There is not much I do that's not based around color. It's just part of me. I match everything and I am always combining colors, objects, and patterns just because it's fun. It was also a huge part of my career in the past because I had to be very accurate at color and printing. And I don't mean to brag but I'm a master at matching exact colors by eye, ha! I'm such a nerd! This matching always happens with my clothes and I just go with it. No reason to fight the crazy.

Have a great day!

FIRST FRIDAY'S // VINTAGE IN KANSAS CITY

(print by: HAMMERPRESS)

Every first Friday of the month quite a lot of vintage and antique stores open up for the weekend in the West Bottoms business district of Kansas City. A few are open all the time but if you want to get the full experience, First Friday's is the best time to stop by. Try to pick a time not in the middle of the summer because this vampire was dying the entire weekend but if you do, spreading your time out through the weekend, makes it easier to see all the shops and not pass out. I've explored the West Bottoms since I was in college, way too many years ago, and during that time there was not much down there but empty warehouses, a few artist lofts, buildings converted into haunted houses for halloween, and the homeless. It was a great place to go exploring and hunting for discarded items like old computers, books, signs and furniture. I still have a rusty old metal EXIT sign that I found in the grass.

I've put together a list of some of the shops in the area. All are within walking distance to each other and a nice variety of food trucks park along the streets. Everything I've tried so far have been really good food. I don't have every shop listed but I will add more once I figure them all out. The web sites I found didn't seem to have update information. If you can only visit a few I would pick the ones that have 3 or 4 floors. You can get lost so leave breadcrumbs. I added links to everyones site or Facebook page.

Sometimes I have an idea of specific things I'm looking for but usually when I go out I'm looking at vintage toys, package design, patterns, typography, vintage signs, clothing, color combinations, how vendors have displayed their products...it's a really long list. It's one hobby I have that really makes my brain happy and keeps me creating my own unique worlds around me.

I can never get enough of vintage/retro artwork and toys. It's something I'm always hunting for. If anyone knows of great places to find toys preferably from the 70's and later, please feel free to leave me a comment. I would love to find new places to go. It doesn't have to be limited to places around me.

You can find anything if you search hard enough. This porcelain baby doll has three faces so you can rotate to a different emotion. I guess there is a bonnet that goes over the rest of the head so you can't see all the faces at once...because that makes it so much better! I've always loved things that most people see as creepy. This doll is definitely unique but did not come home with me, which is probably for the best so it doesn't kill me in my sleep.

I posted more photos on my Flickr if you're interested in what else I saw this weekend.

I love to go hunting for vintage items and will keep posting different shops I find and would recommend visiting for people who share my passion or anyone that's interested in looking at old stuff.

Have a great Monday!

STYLING // FASHION

Styling photos based around color, patterns and products is one of my favorite things to do! I totally just do it for fun. For me, it's making art with my clothes :) I really want to do this more so I will be posting more regularly and also adding the color palettes I used because color is huge for me in everything I do.

Lots of new fashion color photos coming soon.

Happy Thursday :)
