EYE PROTECTiON OBSESSiON

I can't see. Okay, that's not true, I can see but you take my glasses away and I can only focus on something 2 inches from my face. I'm use to having a really high prescription of glasses and up until recently I was only wearing glasses. (I got lazy in college with contacts and just stopped wearing them.) Sunglasses just were not something I wore and I tried those "awesome" transition lenses but always got stuck with dark lenses for awhile after I came back inside from the sun. It's super cool to be in a dark office building with sunglasses on while you wait for them to turn back to clear lenses. I'm pretty sure I've tripped walking up some stairs.

For many years I did't go outside during the day much so I think my eyes got really sensitive to light. My skin is already super sensitive. I really do feel like a vampire with my eyes and skin sizzling the second I'm in sunlight. So now I live in California! The sun is always out! And I actually really love it but my eyes and skin don't, so I've been searching for lots of sun protecting products lately. I think I may have a small obsession with sunglasses now. I'm on the hunt so if you have any companies you like please leave me a comment. I would love to find new products to share.

I just ordered these shades from Nasy Gal. These are made by Quay and I love the shape and color. Because it wouldn't be me if I didn't do this, I've added a list of sunglasses of all prices, shapes, and colors that I found while hunting around.

iNSTAGRAMMiN'

A bit late in sharing this, still trying to process it all. On Sunday morning I started getting a crazy number of followers all of a sudden on my Instagram @4theloveoftoys. I had no idea that Instagram had posted a blog post about me. How flattering, awesome and just crazy! SO many eyes on my Instagram feed. I'd be lying if I said I didn't freak out for awhile walking around saying "oh my god" over and over. Instagram along with Pinterest have become a huge part of my life. I met Doug on Instagram!

If you're curious, I have no idea how Instagram finds people to post on their blog and IG feed. I didn't do anything on my end to make this happen but I am beyond thankful that it did :)

So now what? I guess I better start taking more photos to post for all my new followers!

WHAT i WORE // ALiCE

A little while back I was contacted by Redbubble to help share their Art in Motion campaign and awesome new clothing products you can get with art and illustrations on them and anyone can upload their work to be printed. Redbubble is a global artists' marketplace with over 80,000 selling artists. If there is one things to know about me it's that I always support fellow artist and love that I can wear their art on me to share with people who may have never seen their work before. You get to express yourself with art and I think that's pretty wonderful.

One of their new products is a tube skirts. Mine has a wonderful illustration by artist Karl James Mountford on it and I had so much fun styling it. There is a rose garden pretty close to were we are currently living so I thought it would be a good backdrop for some photos. Silly me decided to go at golden hour on Mother's Day! What was I thinking? Everyone was there so taking many photo wasn't an option without photoshopping out people around me. I'm pretty excited to go back on a different day and take some more photos. The roses there are beautiful!

MORE ABOUT THE ARTiST

Be sure to check out all other fun products Redbubble has that you can get artwork on. I got lost for hours looking at artwork.

Stay tuned, I have a few more outfits/artist coming up over the next few days.

LIFE // SOMETIMES IT GETS IN THE WAY

Happy May! I'm so sorry I fell of the earth for awhile when it comes to my blog. I blinked and two months went by. I realized a long time ago how much life can get in the way of the things you love to do and find passion in. I've had to put a lot aside for many years but each day that goes by I get closer to having the time and ability to do those passions again.

A couple of weeks ago we flew back to my home in Kansas City to pack up a moving truck. Oh! I sold my house! Woohoo! It was on the market for less than three days before I had an offer. So excited to finally have this all over with. It's been a long time coming. Moving across the country isn't easy when you own a home and way too much "stuff" but after almost a year of preparing for this, everything seemed to go pretty smoothly thanks to my family and and amazing boyfriend. I'm happy to say I can finally move forward with my new life in California.

After getting rid of a lot of my possessions...let me just be honest here. It was incredibly difficult to let go of things. Not going to lie, I can really see how people become hoarders and I've had to force myself throughout my life to get rid of things because I always had some grand plan to make something with or out of the object I felt I needed to keep. A lot of items I have are collections so downsizing is hard but something that needed to happen. I lived in a 4 bedroom home with a finished basement. I had a lot of rooms to decorate...Now I've moved across the country and really have no space to keep that much stuff anymore plus moving in with another person changes everything. We both have similar tastes so it will be nice to start over for the most part and make our home "us".  So after letting go of quite a lot, I still have a pretty large amount, so we crammed a truck full of what was left. So full that you couldn't fully open the door when we finally opened the back. It took us 3 days to drive back to California and unfortunately we didn't take many photos. Sometimes you just have to put the cameras down and enjoy what's around you plus pulling a giant yellow truck off the road was only fun once.

I'm excited for what the future holds. It's going to be an adventure. I will have lots of new post coming soon. Now that my house is sold I plan on getting back to what I love. New look to my blog soon as well.

There really was not much to see this time on our drive. All we were thinking about was getting home. We did however drive through Utah past the salt flats and had to get out and take some photos at sunset. What a cool place of just miles of land covered in salt. It looked like we were driving through snow.

Have a wonderful weekend!
